Supreme Court restores Louisiana’s voting map with majority-black district

The Supreme Court on Wednesday reinstated a congressional voting map in Louisiana that includes an additional majority-black district, handing a win to black voters and Democrats less than six months before the November election.

The order was in response to emergency motions filed after a three-judge federal panel in Louisiana threw out the newly redrawn map last month, ruling it an unconstitutional racial gerrymander.
