As the search for the best summer vacation intensifies, more and more people are looking for an escape from the digital chaos that comes with everyday life, according to a new report.

Forget visiting those hot and busy trendy cities for your next summer vacation and instead think about peaceful, tranquil relaxation.

“By 2024, wellness travel will take over. As the hustle and bustle of everyday life takes its toll, travelers seek digital detox and solace in serene landscapes and rejuvenating experiences,” according to the Pinterest Summer 2024 Travel Report.

“Say goodbye to busy cities and hello to off-the-beaten-path destinations that promise tranquility and self-discovery.”

“Quiet Life Travel” is this year’s hottest craze as people seek a “quieter, more serene lifestyle,” according to the new report.

This desire for simplicity has also extended to travel – since last year, searches for ‘quiet places’ and ‘calm places’ have increased by 50% and 42% respectively,” Pinterest search data found.

The travel report shows that “Quiet Life” has received more than 530% more interest this year than in 2023, as users need a digital detox full of nature destinations.

“Solo travel proves to be a liberating choice, giving individuals the freedom to determine their itinerary, pace and priorities without compromise.

“Whether you’re enjoying the tranquility of a secluded beach or meandering through serene rural landscapes, these experiences promote self-care and overall well-being.”

In addition to searching for “serene life travels,” Pinterest users also searched for “travel journal,” “glamping aesthetic,” and “Wellness retreat.”

A possible itinerary for a “quiet life” could include forest walks, island life, village atmosphere, cabins in the woods, national parks and countryside.

The best places to get that much-needed digital reset are the Japanese city of Okinawa and the English countryside.

Other excursion ideas that have increased search traffic on Pinterest include “Adventure Trips” and “Mysterious Places.”

The trip report showed that ‘London lifestyle’, ‘South African food’ and ‘Santorini party’ were the most popular destinations and interests.

Travel experts recently revealed that a majority of Americans are planning a road trip this summer, starting over Memorial Day weekend.

The Vacationer’s anonymous survey asked more than 1,000 American adults if and how they plan to travel this summer, with nearly 82% of Americans planning to travel this summer, reaching more than 212 million during the season adults could be.
