Rise Mzansi plans to convert golf courses and military bases in CT into social housing

CAPE TOWN – Rise Mzansi has outlined its plans for the Western Cape, from turning golf courses and government buildings into social housing and improving security.

The party’s Western Cape Premier candidate Axolile Notywala and other party leaders said their plan was to create “bridges” between communities of all backgrounds.

The party presented the plan on Tuesday in Khayelitsha.

Rise Mzansi went to Khayelitsha on Tuesday where Notywala outlined the party’s plans for the city and the province.

One of his plans is to address the lack of housing through various social housing initiatives, including a land audit.

“We will make large areas of public land, such as military bases and golf courses in Mowbray and Rondebosch, available for social housing or parks and leisure centres.”

He said the party would also focus on making communities safer by increasing crime intelligence capacity.

Party leader Songezo Zibi said the Western Cape would be a place of renewal, with elections in just over a month.
