Comedian Nate Bargatze Comes to Houston for ‘The Be Funny Tour’

Nashville native Nate Bargatze, known for his clean stand-up comedy, comes to Houston this weekend for “The Be Funny Tour” at Houston’s NRG Arena.

The Grammy-nominated comedian – dubbed the ‘Nicest Man in Stand-Up’ by Atlantic Magazine – will travel to multiple cities in North America to present his show of new material.

“I’m on the Be Funny Tour right now, we’re coming to your city in 2024, check it out,” he said in a January TikTok video.

Bargatze’s jokes are focused on relatable life experiences, not on making fun of people, he told KUTV Fresh Living in an interview. He said audiences can expect fun and friendly shows that everyone can enjoy.

According to a 2023 TODAY interview, the clean comedic style of his shows is intended to be suitable for families to attend together.

Bargatze’s performances have brought together audiences from different walks of life as he talks about his student life, adult life, experiences in his old jobs, sports, DNA and evolution. He has performed his stand-up in front of more than 19,000 people at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and hosted Saturday Night Live in October 2023.

Bargatze began his career in the early 2000s after leaving his job at the West Wilson Utility District with colleague Michael Clay. According to the Tennessean, they both moved to Chicago from Nashville.

The comedian went on tour and sold out shows worldwide. He has appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and performed for troops in Kuwait and Iraq, Bonnaroo, SXSW, Oddball Comedy Festival, Sasquatch, Clusterfest and JFL Montreal Comedy Festival.

He also has Netflix specials including “The Tennessee Kid,” “Greatest Average American” and “The Stand-ups.” He currently has a special called “Hello, World” on Amazon Prime Video.

When not on tour, fans can find Bargatze hosting the weekly podcast “Nateland,” along with other comedians such as Brian Bates, Aaron Weber and Dusty Slay. According to Nateland Entertainment’s website, they discuss a range of topics from pop culture and current events to their personal lives and experiences.
